Urban planner and president of the Metrópoli Foundation, Alfonso Vegara, has been recognized with the 2025 James and Carol Hovey Impact Award granted by Eisenhower Fellowships. The award highlights his innovative work on the “Cities” project and his ability to foster creative collaborations that have transformed cities and improved quality of life in more than 20 countries.

The recognition underscores the international impact of his initiatives and his contribution to sustainable urban planning, a field in which Vegara has established himself as one of the most influential voices.
The “James and Carol Hovey Eisenhower Fellowships Impact Award”, or “Hovey Award,” was established in 2023 by Eisenhower Fellowships (EF) to honor a fellow or group of fellows for their outstanding achievements and the positive impact of their projects on society.

Alfonso Vegara (Spain, 1987) is a Spanish architect and urban planner, founder and honorary president of the Metrópoli Foundation, who has received numerous awards for his work in urbanism and regional planning, such as the King Jaime I Prize and Singapore’s Public Service Star Award. He is a distinguished member and trustee of the Eisenhower Fellowships board and has taken part in conferences and collaborations within EF’s global network.
